SUSTAINABILITY
Our Commitment to Sustainability
Architectural Design
Our architectural design has been created with a view to uplifting the local community and fit in with the beauty of the environment. We have added solar panels to minimise energy consumption, green walls to increase biodiversity, repurposed local timber to the outside of the building, increased window panelling to maximise natural light for the health of our workers; this will also minimise the need for artificial lighting and rainfall collection for public conveniences to minimise water wastage.
Environmental Impact
In addition to the above we have introduced electric vehicle charging points which are much needed in the local area. We are also building Integrated green corridors for those who wish to cycle or use our dedicated environmentally friendly bus service to and from the store.
Green tech
We use green tech and sustainable building materials in all of our developments; this includes green walls, Blue roof technology, and re-using building materials where possible. We commit to adaptive re-use wherever possible, in all of projects.
Social impact and regeneration of local area
We are improving on the road infrastructure in order to ensure that the local community is not impacted by the use of additional vehicles, and with a view to creating safe pedestrian walkways. We are also rebuilding the local playground on Tolworth Road, to contribute to our investment to this beautiful community. Our new store will create 70 new flexible-jobs for the local community, and we will be undertaking employability programmes and career support for those who wish to train as Green Store’s managers. There will also be apprenticeships on offer for local people to train in sustainable building.
